Suffolk snow support
Kind hearted volunteers in Suffolk
are adding their weight to the support and rescue
efforts on the county’s snow-covered roads.
Volunteers were called into action late
last night by the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust, who
required assistance in the shape of 4x4 capable vehicles.
St John Ambulance quickly despatched a team in one of their
specially equipped 4x4 ambulances, enabling the
organisation’s members to work alongside the NHS Trust
paramedics.
Today their efforts will continue, with a total ten members
manning their fleet of ambulances.
'Due to our well equipped 4x4 vehicles, we were well placed to respond to the NHS Trust’s immediate requirement and were able to assist them during a very busy period on the county’s roads.

Keith Hotchkiss, Operations Manager for St John Ambulance
Suffolk, said: 'Due to our well equipped 4x4 vehicles, we were well
placed to respond to the NHS Trust’s immediate requirement and were
able to assist them during a very busy period on the county’s
roads.
'Today we will continue to provide a level of support to the
Trust and to the wider community in their time of need, both in
central Ipswich and to the west of the county.
'Our help will continue into the night, with more snow expected
across the region and thus potentially giving way to a higher
demand on the ambulance services.'
St John Ambulance is also providing support in London, Sussex,
Essex, Kent and Surrey.
